About the Jorvik Vikings.
Vikings were Scandinavian fishermen and traders who traveled the seas to trade with other villages during the summer months. Eventually, the Vikings became full-time privateers, raiding villages and settling on foreign lands. Although modern depictions of Vikings often show them as huge, burly men living to a ripe old age, the average height of Viking men was 5 feet, 8 inches, and most Vikings died before their 50th birthdays.
